Greetings!

On behalf of the PNAAF/PNAA 5K Team, we invite you to join us in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the PNAAF 5K Wellness Challenge on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Cheyenne Mountain Resort (exact location – The Glenn). This event is proudly hosted by PNA Colorado during PNAA National Convention Week, July 15–19, 2026.

This annual tradition is more than just a walk or run — it is a powerful demonstration of our shared commitment to health, service, leadership, and community impact. Each step we take together helps advance the mission of PNAAF and PNAA to support programs that strengthen the nursing profession and the communities we serve.

Funds raised through this event directly benefit initiatives such as the Leadership Institute, scholarships, education, research, humanitarian missions, and community service programs that empower nurses to lead, innovate, and make a difference locally and globally.

The 5K Run/Walk is also an opportunity for Filipino-American nurses, families, friends, and supporters to come together in unity — promoting wellness, camaraderie, and the spirit of giving back. Whether you participate in person or virtually, your involvement creates lasting impact.

Our goal this year is to raise $100,000, and with your support, we can continue building opportunities that inspire excellence and uplift future generations of nurse leaders.

5K Training Tips

Participating in a 5K run (3.1 miles) is an excellent way to add a new level of challenge and interest to your exercise program. It is a perfect distance for beginners, and you can be fully prepared in just two months.

We recommend using the seven-week 5K training schedule created by Olympian Jeff Galloway. Tailored for beginners, this guide uses a mix of running, walking, and resting to help reduce the risk of injury, stress, and fatigue while making the activity more enjoyable. You can also adapt this schedule strictly for a 5K walk by walking consistently on run/walk days.

The Run/Walk Method

In week one, you’ll run for 15 seconds and walk for 45 seconds, repeating this cycle for 30 minutes. As the weeks progress, you’ll gradually increase running time and reduce walking time.

Recovery is Key

One day a week (Friday) is designated for complete rest to allow your muscles to recover. On Sundays, you can choose to rest again or enjoy a casual walk at any distance.

Race Day Preparation

Remember that you can walk or run slowly to help your body adjust. Following this schedule, your official race day will fall on Saturday of the seventh week.
